Thoughtbubble for the last 6 years has been my place of pilgrimage. Those two magic days a year feel like plugged into the electrifying creative mains.

It is a comic convention like no other I ever been to. Because of it I have met some of my heroes like Mike Mignola, James Mahfood or Luke Pearson. Put a face to amazing creatives whom some in turn become incredible people to keep in touch with. Thanks to that I managed to hold on to my creativity until I got my ship together.

Last year on November I finally reached a point of no return. Made my mind. The coming year I wanted to cross the line and be a part of the convention. I became a man with a plan and an ever growing to do list.

Thoughtbubble is first and foremost it’s a comic convention and people with one are most likely to get a table. My number ONE priority became coming up with an idea. Me been a bookworm I did what I do best. Research and hit the books.

This was the excuse my brain needed to justify a year subscription to MasterClass I had been eyeing up juicy Neil Gaiman course in storytelling for months… the thing is, it was not Mr Gaiman who set my world on fire. I was saving him for last like a rich and decadent desert on a cheat day. I started with another course and that was when I discovered Joyce Carol Oates. Her storytelling, structure and short stories were wild. One in particular called to me. Now nearly 3 months later that baby is nearly ready to pop(It will be out by March).

For now I can’t share much of the creative/narrative process behind it as it is pretty much SPOILERS EVERYWHERE. But as soon as it’s out I will. In the next couple of weeks I will most likely have find out which side of the convention I find myself in. Until then fingers crossed!

See you next Friday.
